In the heart of Omaha’s Historic Dundee Neighborhood, a culinary gem awaits: Avoli Osteria.  This charming Northern Italian restaurant was founded in July 2013 by Dario and Amy Schicke.  The Schicke’s bring a taste of Northern Italy to Omaha.  They understand that not everyone can embark on a journey to Italy, but at Avoli, you can indulge in the vibrant flavors and unhurried food preparation that define the region.

Dario is a classically trained chef from Sarajevo Bosnia. He met Amy, a native of Kearney, Nebraska in Munich Germany, where they were married in 1995.  Their shared passion for food and hospitality led them to New York City where they resided until the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Following this pivotal moment, they decided to make Omaha home to their growing family.

Their culinary adventures in Omaha began in 2006 with the opening of Dario’s Brasserie, a beloved neighborhood café known for its comforting fare, Belgian Beers and French wines. Seven years later, in July of 2013, Dario and Amy began their second venture, Avoli Osteria. In 2022, the couple made the decision to close Dario’s Brasserie and focus exclusively on Avoli Osteria.

The story behind Avoli Osteria is one of love, family, and shared passion for Italian cuisine. The name “Avoli” is a combination of their two daughters’ names, Ava and Olivia - a testament to the warmth and familial atmosphere they strive to create.  Every visit to Avoli feels like joining an extended family gathering, whether you’re enjoying an intimate evening for two or hosting a memorable celebration in their private room.  Dario and Amy’s attention to detail and dedication to their craft ensure that every dish is crafted with care and expertise, allowing the quality of ingredients to shine.

Dario and his team are dedicated to sourcing the best local ingredients, complimented by imported specialties from Italy.  Every bite at Avoli is a celebration of Italian culinary excellence.  Dario sums it up by saying, “It’s all about the details.  Italian cooking is about the simplicity of letting the quality of the ingredients shine.”
